“He
gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless” (Isaiah
40:29, NLT).
A father watched out the kitchen window as his 7 year
old son played in the backyard sandbox. He watched him moving several large
rocks out of the way so he’d have more room to enjoy his space. There was one
very big rock that was giving his little boy a great deal of trouble. He
watched his son move the rock to the edge of the sandbox, but each time it
looked like he would be able to move the rock over the side of the sandbox; the
rock would fall back in and frustrate his son. The last time it fell, it
pinched one of his little fingers.
The father walked out to his tearful son and asked him
what was wrong. His son told him all about the heavy rock in the sandbox. The
father asked, “Why didn’t you use all the strength you had?”
The little boy replied, “I did dad, I did.”
The father responded, “No son, my strength belongs to
you as well, and you didn’t ask your dad.” And with that the father reached down
and together he and his son removed the rock from the sandbox.
Do you have rocks in your sandbox today? Are there big
problems that you’ve been trying to remove from the space of your life? Have
you exhausted your strength? Allow me to encourage you today to use all of your
strength! Your Father’s strength belongs to use as well, and often we must
reach the end of our own power before we can recognize the supernatural power
and strength that we possess but too often neglect. God stands ready to insert His
power into your situation and circumstance, but you must be willing to invite
Him.
Pray
with Me:
Father,
I have been trying to remove some big obstacles from my life and I admit that
I’m struggling. Today I realize that what seems big to me is but a speck to
you. Therefore, I invite you into the sandbox of my life and ask you to
exercise your power and strength and on my behalf. Thank you for loving me
enough to move in my circumstances and for doing so just now. I trust you, love
you, and praise you for taking care of these mattes for me. Amen.
