Celebrate Every Day

“The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by the same Spirit living with you” (Romans 8:11, NLT).

Have you ever watched a movie that you’ve already seen? Maybe the first time it was suspenseful, but not so the second time because you know how the story ends. You know the good guy doesn’t fall off the cliff and the bad guy eventually gets caught. But you still enjoy the movie. In fact you may enjoy the movie even more the second or third time you watch it. Since you’re not all tied up in the plot, you begin to appreciate other aspects of the film: clever dialogue, outstanding camera work, the use of a special effects, and so on. Since you know the ending you can enjoy the movie on a whole different level.

That’s how we can enjoy life. We can live as if we are viewing life for the second time. We don’t have to sweat the outcome because we know God’s ultimate outcome. We need not wonder if He will take care of us, or if He will cause all things to work together for His good on our behalf. We know the outcome, and we know since Jesus conquered death, we can, through Him, conquer life. Consequently, we can enjoy the journey of the day. Every day becomes part of the celebration and that celebration continues even in the tough days. That’s God’s promise.

Allow me to encourage you to celebrate every day, knowing the ultimate outcome. Take time to appreciate the aspects of life that are often taken for granted; don’t get tied up in the plot; enjoy the conversations with God and others; notice the beautiful scenery He has placed around you; and even enjoy the trials with the knowledge that you win. Indeed, you can enjoy life on a whole different level. Celebrate every day – beginning today!

Pray with Me:

Father, thank you for your Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. What a joy to know that same Spirit lives in me. Because of the finished work of Christ, and the continuing work of the Spirit, I know that you are working all things for my good. Help me see you in all things, and live in victory, because victory is mine through your Spirit that lives in me. Amen.
