“I
know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can
close” (Revelation 3:8, NLT).
Vision and expectation motivates us to keep going and
not give up. Without either of them, we will find ourselves in a state of
perpetual mediocrity and won’t want to do anything, and furthermore, we won’t
do anything that has a major impact on our world.
I’m reminded of a Peanut’s cartoon. Lucy and Linus were
sitting in front of the television set when Lucy said to Linus, “Go get me a
glass of water.”
Linus looked surprised, “Why should I do anything for
you? You never do anything for me.”
“On your 75th birthday,” Lucy promised, “I’ll bake you
a cake.”
Linus got up, went through the open door and headed into
the kitchen. As he passed through the doorway, he said, “Life is much more exciting,
and working is so much more enjoyable when you have something to look forward
to.”
Do you have a steadfast vision from God and a solid
expectation in God? Such not only opens the door to receive a touch from God, but
also moves you through the door. We have an open door in front of us that no
one can close. But make no mistake about it – God can, and will, close that
door eventually. No man can close it, but once God closes that door, no human
effort can reopen it.
What’s the point? It’s time to go through the door
while we still have the opportunity. What are you pursuing? What is God leading
you to do? Are you willing to get up and go through the door? Like Linus, when
you have vision and expectation, you’re willing to get up and do something.
Pray
with Me:
God,
I thank you for the vision and expectation you have placed within me. I know
what you have instructed and what you want to take place. Give me the faith and
initiative to walk through the door you’ve opened in the confident assurance
that when you open a door, you’ve already prepared what awaits on the other
side. Amen.
