No Need for Fear

“This is my command – be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9, NLT).

During his years as Premier of the Soviet Union, Nikita Khrushchev denounced many of the policies and atrocities of Joseph Stalin. In the midst of one of his public addresses, a heckler shouted “You were one of his colleagues why didn’t you stop him?”

Khrushchev screamed, “Who said that?” There was a deathly silence as nobody in the room dared moved a muscle. Then Khrushchev said, “Now you know why!”

Fear will silence us. Fear will confuse us, and fear can paralyze us. It’s like the coils of a snake that tighten around its victims so that when its’ prey breathes out it constricts itself tighter, thus not allowing the lungs to take in a breath. It stealthily seeks the innocent among us and tightens itself around us. We are paralyzed and are finding it difficult even to breathe.

Each of us has experienced fear, but I want to remind you that there is no need for fear in your life! God has promised to be with you wherever you go; to never leave or forsake you; to be your shield, reward, and covering. If we truly believe God is Who He says He is in our lives, there is no need for fear.

Allow me to encourage you today to stand on God’s promises and put fear away. You can do everything He says you can, and you are able to accomplish all that He has commissioned you to do. What are you waiting for? There’s no need, and no room, for fear!

Pray with Me:

God, I’m thankful that you are with me wherever I go, and you are able to destroy my fears. Today, I invite you into every situation in my life as I submit the day to you. Renew my faith and vision, and help me walk with courage into that which you have prepared for me. Amen.
